WELCOME TO ENGINEERS FOR THE PROFESSION
Engineers for the Profession is a not-for-profit registered corporation of Ontario professional engineers. It was formed to add an additional mechanism for Engineers concerned about the profession to meet and discuss the current issues.
We are independent of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), its chapters, and the Ontario Society for Professional Engineers (OSPE). Most of our group, however, are active in their PEO chapters and/or OSPE.
We are not a political party. Our wide-ranging discussions throughout the year focus on understanding the implications of issues on the profession.
We use democratic principles and the political process to advance the profession.
We believe serving the public interest goes hand-in-hand with operating a vibrant, member-directed, professional regulatory association. These principles are the basis of Canadian self-governance with peer review.
The Institute Of Electrical And Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has provided a Letter of Support for E4P.
This paper reviews the unique system of Democratic Self Governance evolved by Canada to govern and regulate the Professions. It focuses on the Applied Science and Engineering
professions.
